Substations & CBH

TCE has significant experience in the renovation of existing substations and circuit breaker houses and the construction of new substation facilities. Substations convert AC power to DC power for train power supply and third rail systems. CBH upgrades allow for better power equalization between tracks, and provide redundancy during maintenance and in case of equipment and feeder failures.  
 
Substation reconstruction work entails installation of temporary traction power cables and control cables to take CBHs off-line. Substation construction involves installation of new breaker line-ups, batteries, switchgear, transformers, control equipment, communication wiring, connection to traction power cables and associated splicing. TCE performs significant engineering in planning substation and traction power work. Testing and commissioning are integral to ensuring that the installations meet with customer expectations.
